       VAT 69 was developed by the founder, Willian Sanderson in 1882.
One hundred of blends were assembled in their vats and on an appointed day the jury, consisting of his friends colleagues, came to pass judgement on his whisky. They expertly sniffed and sipped the contents of each vat and arrived at a conclusion. Vat number sistynine was undoubtedly the finest blend that they had tasted.

       His friends would be the best judges of quality. He decided that VAT 69 should be adopted as the brand name.

       VAT 69 is one of the ten best-selling Scotch whiskies internationally.
Its popularity has spread to over 164 countries and nearly a million cases are sold worldwide each year.
